Victoria “Vika” Kelloyan

Victoria, born in Crimea in the city of Sevastopol situated along the Black Sea, spent most of her life in Russia. However, she recalls summers spent on train journeys to visit her grandparents in a small village in Ukraine. At the age of six, during one such trip, she was engrossed in drawing in the train cabin. A fellow passenger, an elderly man who happened to be the superintendent of an art school, quietly observed her artistic endeavors. Before departing the train, he advised Victoria’s mother to enroll her in the Art School.

Following this encounter, Victoria joined the art school and remained a student there for six years. Today, she expresses deep gratitude to her mother for unwavering support throughout her artistic journey. Richard Gillmor

Sebastian artist and City Council member Richard Gillmor, along with his wife Judy, spent 27 years in Key Largo, known for its iconic status thanks to Hemingway, Bogie, and Bacall. Despite its artistic allure, Gillmor did little painting due to the need to make a living in the expensive Keys. Having majored in Fine Art at Western Michigan University, Gillmor entered the insurance business. It wasn’t until retirement that he rekindled his passion for painting. In 2001, while passing through Sebastian, a chance encounter and the town’s resemblance to the Keys drew them in. They eventually settled in Sebastian in 2004 amidst the tumult of Florida’s hurricane season. Gillmor, inspired by artists like Monet and Cezanne, particularly loves capturing the play of light on water. His preferred medium is oil for its manipulative qualities. Water scenes, especially the local lagoon, dominate his work, although he occasionally doodles boats and airplanes during city council meetings. Gillmor’s involvement with the Sebastian River Art Club led to the refurbishment of a city-owned building into the Art Center, showcasing members’ works and hosting various events. As a driving force behind the club, Gillmor’s contributions extend to teaching drawing classes and organizing community projects like Art in Public Places.
